What are some indicators that a TC may require intensive support?
- Demonstrating inability to make or sustain positive relationships with students, staff or parents.
- Arriving late on a regular basis.
- Leaving early on a regular basis without conferring with MT or SC.
- Demonstrating unexplained and/or frequent absences.
- Demonstrating lack of preparedness (no lesson plans, materials not ready etc).
- Demonstrating lack of awareness of need for safe conditions for students.
- Responding inappropriately to students.
- Demonstrating inability to accept suggestions for improvement.
- Demonstrating inability to incorporate constructive feedback into subsequent planning/teaching.
- Demonstrating inappropriate behaviour or making inappropriate remarks to students and/or staff.
- Demonstrating personal or emotional difficulties that significantly affect behaviour in the host classroom.
- Minimizing the importance of behaviours that are significantly affecting practicum performance.
- Demonstrating ineffective communication skills.
- Demonstrating an inability to manage the demands of increased classroom responsibilities and meet other programmatic expectations and checkpoints.
- Demonstrating inability to implement explicit feedback/enact specific changes for improvement.
- Demonstrating inability to reflect on areas of concern using the critical feedback provided.
- Demonstrating inability to meet expectations and/or follow procedures set out in an Action Plan.
