When is a TC considered to be at risk of unsuccessful completion?

TCs are considered to be at risk of unsuccessful completion if they are experiencing difficulty meeting the minimum standards for success in the program

All TCs experience challenges in learning to teach. What is the difference between experiencing challenges and being at risk of unsuccessful completion?

It is expected that all TCs will experience challenges from time to time as they grow and learn. The nature of these challenges will vary widely given the range of prior experiences, skills, abilities and learning styles that each individual brings to the faculty. It is the frequency, duration and intensity of the difficulties that are the essential guiding considerations for determining if a TC is at risk of unsuccessful completion and if intervention may be necessary.

Who determines if a TC is at risk of unsuccessful completion?

The Practicum Facilitator, in consultation with the Mentor Teacher and Site Coordinator, will determine if a TC is at risk of unsuccessful completion. Subsequent decisions about the types of supports to be put in place will be based on ongoing consultations.
