The "active engagement" practicum experience allows teacher candidates to participate actively in the work of teaching and learning, online and/or face-to-face, for 100% of the day with strong support from the mentor teacher.
Unlike an observation placement, where a TC observes the teacher in action, takes notes and reflects on the process, an "active engagement" practicum experience allows the TC to learn while "doing" the work of a teacher, within an environment that encourages co-planning, co-teaching, working with small groups of students or individual learners.
