Here’s What! (…TC Learning at York)
The Practicum Evaluation Protocol (PEP) was developed to
- provide a standard document for assessing and evaluating TCs;
- support the ongoing assessment/evaluation of TCs;
- provide a clear set of common expectations in terms of the exit requirements for EDPR3000 and for EDPR4000.
- provide a common set of assessment/evaluation tools for MTs and TCs;
- promote ongoing dialogues between MTs and TCs;
- support self assessment by the TCs;
- correlate the assessment/evaluation process with the supervision process for certified teachers in schools.
So What? (… Linking to Practice)
TCs will self-assess their practice and explore particular professional and ethical issues, including building professional relationships with students, the impact of incomplete or hastily-prepared lesson plans on student learning, and the potential problems of inappropriate communication (in person, in the staffroom, in public places) and through social media. TCs read and reflect on the OCT Professional Advisories.
Now What? (…Suggestions for MT and TC Collaboration)
- Discuss the use of the Practicum Evaluation Protocol (PEP) as Self-assessment for TCs
- Discuss how the OCT Standards of Practice and the Ethical Standards of Practice support teachers in Ontario.
